William Bennett and Sarah Massey?, m. ca 1837, Stockport? 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I'm looking for more info on William Bennett, b. ca 1815?, England, who married Sarah Massey?, probably in Stockport.

I have Sarah Bennett, born Oct 03, 1815, Stockport, according to her tombstone. I found an LDS IGI record for a christening of Sarah Massey, Stockport, father William Massey, mother Elizabeth. The right Sarah? She was married to William Bennett before 1837. They had a daughter, Ellen, b. May 06, 1837. I found a christening record for an Ellen Bennett in Stockport, on 02 JUL 1837, parents William and Sarah Bennett.

There's an LDS IGI record for a William Bennet, christened 15 JAN 1815, Taxal. Possible?

William died before the US 1850 census, so his age is uncertain, between 1810-1820. William, Sarah and Ellen emigrated to the US ca 1837; their second daughter was born in the US ca 1838.

Living with Sarah in the US 1850 census (in addition to her daughters, Ellen, Eliza Ann and Mary Elizabeth)were James Bennett, 59, b. England,a machinist, and Mary A. Bennett, 28, England. Relationships weren't recorded.

There is also a family plot in an Episcopalian cemetery: The Bennett individuals listed are: James - 18 June 1848, 24 yrs; James - 21 June 1848, 1 yr. 7 mo.; Joshua - 27 July 1850, 56 yrs; and William - 17 April 1849, 34 yrs. No record of where they were born.

Any help in sorting out these Bennetts would be appreciated.

Carolyn
